Targeting the right customers – meaning?

by Laurie Panas Brackett
To target as in an object, usually marked with concentric circles to be shot at during shooting practice.

Wouldn’t it be nice if our customers were already marked with concentric circles and we knew which ones wanted to buy? Then we could just talk to them directly and not waste our time or money on those without the bright blue and red concentric circles?

This is what marketing consultants do, find those customers that we need to target and we create the message to get them to respond and purchase. It’s like target practice shooting skeets and it requires skill.
