Industry lingo may not be familiar to all

I was conducting a business meeting last week on on-line marketing and social media planning. I knew my client would not be up on the lingo so I provided them with a list of terms to help them get through the meeting and understand what was being reviewed. I could have stopped at each term and reviewed them one at a time but it would have extended the already long meeting. In this fast paced techie world, terms have various meanings and clients sometimes feel like they should know these terms and often times do not ask what they are. This can be a negative for you if the conversation is so beyond their scope that they tune out or put it off. Take the time to go over terms, provide them with a “cheat sheet” or provide a Wiki on your site. You will find your clients appreciate the gesture and come to trust you more for sharing.
