10 Rules for dealing with bad comments on your blog or Facebook page

You received a bad blog comment or bad post and you panic.  Your first instinct is to delete the comment and forget it ever came, but don’t.  Here’s why; you are giving up an excellent opportunity to present your case and possibly win some sympathy votes for the way you handled it.

In most cases a bad blog comment or post to your social outlets has already been read by too many people for it to go away.  Plus, you run the risk of upsetting the poster more by ignoring it and erasing their message and thereby causing them to post more negative comments and posts.

We all have memories. We all love to document our memories—in photos, letters, notes, stories. Why should we feel any different with our memories on Facebook? I remember the day I signed up for “The Facebook” (the domain was still www.thefacebook.com back then). It was November of 2004, my freshman year of college. I was young, naïve, and was told by a girlfriend that I needed to sign up because everyone was on it. So I jumped on the bandwagon and joined the website, created a profile, and uploaded a photo. Ever since that day, I don’t think I have gone more than a week without signing onto my Facebook account.

Increase your fans—Every time someone “likes” your brand, they become a fan of your company.   Having more fans allows for an exponential increase of exposure of your brand. Their friends see posts and send to their friends and so forth, so increasing your fan base will increase your exposure.
