Public Relations – Small Business Marketing Strategies

You may hear about Public Relations(PR) as people in marketing discuss this term. Well…What is it? PR is a marketing venue focused on maintaining public image for businesses, non-profits, high-profile people, such as athletes, politicians and celebrities. It is a form of communication between an entity, organization, or individual and the general public. PR provides exposure to an audience using topics of public interest and news items that may provide a third-party endorsement and do not direct any type of payment. Culture Points are Crucial for a Business’ Marketing

I have often heard about business cultures. I have especially heard about various business cultures in the tech industry. Companies like Google having a fun and creative thinking culture. It is rumored they put in beach balls and slides for their employees. This puts a mental picture in my mind of a culture that encourages play throughout the day and that expression is developed into great ideas. Wow, how fun would that be? Keeping Fresh for Google

So, you have an SEO plan in place and your site is “up to snuff.” But you find that the site is starting to slump in the search engine rankings. One reason for the dropping-off could be that the content is old.  If your web site has the same content when a search engine (Google, Bing or Yahoo) re-indexes your site, you can start to drop in rankings. There is also the possibility that someone visiting your site might notice that there is no new content. Which may lead them away from what they perceive as a dead site.

Choose the media based on the strategy

Each media has a purpose.

Choose the media based on the marketing strategy.

Broadcast TV – To reach the masses with a single :30 spot. Reach is the goal.

Radio – To reach narrowed, targeted, niche groups of people with frequency being the goal.

Trade Publications – One business talking to another.
Cable TV – “Radio with pictures.” Same goal – same objective.
Consumer Magazines – To reach upscale people in their leisure time with high ticketed items.

Outdoor – A “reminder” medium. Similar to a :10 spot in broadcast. Good to reach the masses with reach and frequency the goal.
